Project summaryInteractive campaign by advertising agency BBDO for supermarket chain Lidl in the form of an online DJ contest using fruit as instruments. Rambla took care of transcoding and stitching a complex composition of audio and video fragments to a single video that could be shared on Facebook. The price: tickets for Tomorrowland, one of the most popular dance festivals in the world.
Brussels based agency BBDO came up with a great concept for supermarket chain Lidl in the form of an online DJ contest using fruit as instruments. Participants could create their own dance track choosing from a library of fruit themed video and audio loops. The resulting timeline matrix was posted to our Clevercast platform which would put all fragments in the right order, stitch them together and transcode the result to a single sharable video file. In order to accomplish this, we had to teach our Clevercast cloud transcoding service some new tricks while making sure that scalability and high-performance, typical for this type of short-term commercial campaign, would be guaranteed.
After Clevercast completed transcoding the video, a HTTP callback to the BBDO application server triggered an automated upload to Facebook, where friends could be invited to vote for the mix. The lucky winner took home a duo ticket for Tomorrowland. One of the contestant’s fruity loops can be watched below.
